There are several ways to build your own plants, or make more plants from cuttings. Two good resources for learning how to do this are the Home Orchard Society of Portland, which hosts a Rootstock sale and Scion Exchange the first Saturday in March. They offer workshops in pruning and grafting your own mini-dwarf fruit trees, so you can build your own for a fraction of the retail cost. Another good resource is the book Plant Propagation, Alan Toogood, Ed. New York: DK Publishing, 1999. It goes through how to propagate nearly any plant you might have.
